Every company strives for productive, motivated and satisfied employees, because only such employees contribute to successful business operations and the achievement of competitive advantage. Empowering employees develops intrinsic motivation that points to the inner will, desire and effort of an individual to achieve the best results and contribute not only to his personal development but also to the development of the organization he is a member of. The focus of this paper is small, medium and large companies, and the aim is to examine whether the perception of employees depends on the size of the company in which they work, about the concept of empowerment as well as its impact on the success of business operations as well as the personal growth of employees. In this paper, a survey was conducted on a small company, a craft company Europlast from Donji Miholjac, a medium-sized enterprise Komunalac d.o.o. from Bjelovar and a large company Ravlić d.o.o. from Osijek. Following the introductory part follows the methodology of the work and in this chapter are mentioned previous researches that can be related to this topic. And previous research, as can be seen in the paper, suggests that the contribution of human resources management, that is, the influence of a unit that cares about employees, their motivation, training, and readiness to do business greatly contributes to the empowerment of employees in organizations. The theoretical part of the paper clarifies the concept of empowerment and states the components, both positive and negative, that affect the empowerment process. One of the most important components is certainly a delegation, with the training and development of employees being inevitable. The empirical part of this paper covers the results of research titled "Empowering employees as a key factor for success in a business", which aims to establish the perception of employees on the concept, process and importance of empowerment in a large, medium and small enterprise. The results will show the process of empowerment and its impact on the employees of small, medium and large enterprises.
