Abstract
Monopolistička konkurencija je jedna od tržišnih struktura koja ima svoje primjere u stvarnim tržištima. Monopolistička konkurencija sadrži aspekte monopola i savršene konkurencije. Ovaj tip tržišne strukture sadrži konkurente koji proizvode slične, ali ne iste proizvode. Niti jedna kompanija ne drži monopol, ali svaka djeluje neovisno. Ovaj oblik tržišta zato nazivamo nesavršena konkurencija. Ova tržišta sadrže velik broj proizvođača, koji nisu preuzimatelji cijene kao u savršenoj konkurenciji, nego odlučuju sami o svojoj cijeni. Međutim, kao u savršenoj konkurenciji ulazak i izlazak na tržište je potpuno slobodan. Proizvođači na tržištu monopolske konkurencije kratkoročno ostvaruju ekonomski profit, ali u dugom roku taj profit je jednak nuli. Razlog toga je što ekonomski profit kratkoročno privlači nove proizvođače, što nadalje rezultira većom konkurencijom, te dugoročno smanjenjem profita. Industrije na kojima se vide obilježja monopolističke konkurencije su: odjeća, restorani, frizeri, proizvođači hardware-a za osobna računala itd.
Abstract (english)
Monopolistic competition is one of the market structures that has its examples in real markets. Monopolistic competition contains aspects of monopoly and perfect competition. This type of market structure contains competitors who produce similar but not the same products. No company holds a monopoly, but each operates independently. This form of market is therefore called imperfect competition. These markets contain a large number of manufacturers, who are not price takers as in perfect competition, but decide their own price. However, as in perfect competition, entry and exit to the market is completely free. Producers in the market of monopolistic competition make economic profit in the short term, but in the long run that profit is equal to zero. The reason for this is that economic profit attracts new producers in the short term, which further results in greater competition and a reduction in profit in the long run. Industries that show signs of monopolistic competition are: clothing, restaurants, hairdressers, PC hardware manufacturers, etc.
