Abstract
Financijski instrumenti se u grubo mogu podijeliti na tradicionalne i suvremene, a predmet ovoga rada su opcije kao vrsta financijskih izvedenica i dio suvremenih financijskih instrumenata. Cilj je detaljno prikazati mogućnosti koje se stavljaju pred investitore pri uporabi opcija. Opcije su kao oblik poznate još od davnina, a formiranjem najznačajnije burze opcija, Chicago Board Options Exchange, započinje razdoblje širokog korištenja opcija kao financijskih instrumenata. Uz korištenje opcija u svrhu zaštite od nepovoljnih kretanja na tržištu, iste se koriste i kao instrumenti u svrhu arbitraže i špekulacije. Postoje i brojne strategije koje investitori mogu upotrijebiti korištenjem opcija prilikom zaštite od rizika nepovoljnog kretanja cijena, pri pokušaju zarade na arbitraži ili prilikom špekulativnih radnji. U radu su korišteni hipotetski primjeri s ciljem prezentiranja mogućnosti i načina korištenja opcija kao i prednosti i nedostataka koje se vežu uz njih ovisno o očekivanjima investitora. Analizom na čikaškoj virtualnoj burzi prikazani su i primjeri korištenja opcija uz mjere za procjenu rizičnosti istih.
Abstract (english)
Financial instruments are divided into traditional and modern, and the subject of this paper are options as a type of financial derivatives as a part of modern financial instruments. The aim is to show detailed possibilities which are investors using in trading options. Options as form are known since ancient times and forming the most significant stock exchange known as Chicago Board Options Exchange, which signifies a period of wide usage of options as financial instruments. Options can be used in order to hedge against negative movements in the market, also they are used as instruments for arbitrage and speculation. There are many strategies that investors can use with options to hedge against adverse price movements, in an attempt to earn on arbitrage or speculative actions. The paper presents a hypothetical examples with goal of presenting the possibilities and modes of using options as well as the advantages and disadvantages that are associated with them depending on the expectations of investors. The analysis on the virtual Chicago stock exchange describes examples of using options with measures to assess their risk.
