Abstract
Monopol se ubraja u tržišne strukture nesavršene konkurencije. Riječ je o tržišnoj strukturi koja se po svojim karakteristikama značajnije razlikuje od ostalih struktura, no isto tako se i rjeđe pojavljuje u praksi. Posebnost monopola očituje se u postojanju samo jednog proizvođača, odnosno ponuđača određenog proizvoda ili usluge na tržištu. Monopol je u modernim poslovnim uvjetima rijetka tržišna pojava no primjeri istog u praksi ipak postoje. Ekonomska struka smatra monopol negativnom pojavom koji najviše štete nanosi potrošačima koje monopol dovodi u podređeni položaj u odnosu na subjekt koji ima monopol te stoga većina država u slučaju pojave monopola koristi određene tržišne alate kojim se efekti spomenutog nastoje ublažiti. Temeljni cilj ovog rada je istražiti i analizirati razloge nastanka, posebnosti te mehanizme koji su povezani s pojmom monopola kao i usporediti prethodno navedeni s ostalim prisutnim tržišnim strukturama i uvjetima. Osim navedenog, u radu će biti pobliže objašnjen pojam monopolske moći te načini i instrumenti mjerenja navedene pojave.
Abstract (english)
Monopoly is one of the market structures of imperfect competition. This is a market structure that, by its characteristics, significantly differs from other structures, but it also appears less frequently in practice. The particularity of a monopoly is manifested in the existence of only one manufacturer, or a provider of a particular product or service on the market. In modern business conditions monopoly is a rare market phenomenon but there are examples of the same in practice. The economic profession considers the monopoly as a negative phenomenon that most damages the consumers which have been brought into In an unfavorable position in relation to a subject that holds monopoly and therefore most countries in the case of monopoly appearance use certain market tools to mitigate the effects of the mentioned phenomenon. The main purpose of this paper is to explore and analyze the reasons for the emergence; the particularities and the mechanisms associated with the concept of monopoly as well as compare the above mentioned with other market structures and conditions. In addition to the above, the paper will outline the concept of monopoly power and the methods and instruments for measuring this phenomenon.
