Human resources management is considered to be the fundamental function of management. One of its tasks is finding appropriate employees to work in the organization. People who possess characteristics such as creativity and innovation, greatly contribute to development and competitiveness of a firm. Non-profit organizations represent the fundamental part of civil sector and also unite the like-minded people who are connected by the common goal: progress and prosperity of the community they live in. The like-minded people, in other words volunteers, are the key factor of sustainability and success of the organization and they are guided by motivation and progress of the community. The questions are how the volunteers are guided inside the organizations, what is their motivaton, how are they rewarded and kept within organization? To answer these questions, the research of three volunteer organizations was carried out. The paper analyses their work and behaviour toward volunteers. To protect their identity, the names of the organiaztions are not specified but are denoted with letters x,y and z. In the process of writing this paper, the following methods are used: • Inductive - deductive method that includes reasoning from from the more general to the more specific, and from specific observations to broader generalizations and theories. • The descriptive method, a procedure of simple description of the facts, and empirical confirmation of their connections and relationships. The data collection process has included primary sources – interviews, and secondary sources of information - scientific articles, textbooks and databases.
