Nowadays we are witnesses of increased globalization, internationalization and strog competition on markets, but also we are witnesses of bad events caused by the power of nature or man made. Earhquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions, wars, famine and diseases are just some of the bad events that medias reporting us about more often. All this results witht destruction of homes that have been built for decades or centuries, with human suffering, but also with an increasing number of human victims. In situations like this, the reaction plays the most important role and the main goal is to provide assistance and support in the affected areas as soon as possible. Appearance of the humanitarian logistics is priority and according to researches it makes 80% of humanitarian aid operations, which is why it is the subject of this work. Many authors have agreed that humanitarian logistics can learn a lot from the traditional / commercial logistics processes, but because of the circumstances in which humanitarian aid takes action, not all activities can be performed. Effective supply chain management took over the most important role in the business logistics field, and this also can be said fot the area of humanitarian logistics. When disaster occurs, in the first stage aid comes in large quantities, and some products are not appropriate for the circumstances for which they are intended. It results with creation of the bottlenecks and problems with logistics management, and as mentioned, in such situations time plays a significant role. Except for the above, humanitarian logisticians are facing a series of problems and obstacles, and scientists are increasingly doing on researches and new methods of managing supply chains in humanitarian aid.
