The Internet has changed everyday life, modernized the world and enabled businesses to get closer to customers by getting to know their lifestyles and habits by applying an analytical and research approach in business. Online research methods are data collection methods that involve access to data and respondents using digital platforms in data collection. The purpose of this paper is to explain online research, explore and analyze the relevant features of the same on the basis of researched knowledge and point out to researchers their advantages and disadvantages. Research work is a long and quite complex process that is performed in four basic phases: where to start? (initial phase), how to investigate it? (research method), the phase of working with data and the last phase - the phase of inference. Data can be classified into two categories: the first involves data that the researcher collects independently (so-called primary data) and readymade, ready-to-use data are called secondary data. Primary data are collected by three methods: testing, observation and conducting the experiment. Online research requires the development of a questionnaire that provides a detailed overview of each individual. The main advantages of online research are: cheap implementation, greater reach of people, more cost-effective. On the other hand, there are shortcomings: the issue of security and privacy of respondents, the emergence of an inadequate sample, internet fraud, etc. Researchers point out that when collecting data in online surveys, the following platforms stand out: Qualtrics, Google Forms and SurveyMonkey. In addition to being completely free, they offer users a handful of benefits that are analyzed in detail in Chapter 6. The analysis of the online platforms presented in this paper will contribute to future researchers in creating and building guidelines for their own research plans.
