Abstract
U ovom radu prikazat će se baze podataka kao izvor podataka, informacija i znanja za menadžere. Baza podataka se može definirati kao skup podataka koji su međusobno povezani te se pohranjuju u vanjsku memoriju računala. Baza podataka olakšava rad zaposlenicima, zato što u svakom datom trenutku mogu pregledavati informacije i podatke koji ih zanimaju. Također menadžerima olakšava praćenje napretka poslovanja, i mogućnost uvida u rezultate poslovanja cjelokupne organizacije. Baze podataka su postojale i u prošlosti samo su se drukčije nazivale i koristile. Danas se baze podataka najčešće povezuju sa korištenjem računala. Sustav za upravljanje bazama podataka (SUBP) je računalni program koji se koristi kako bi se moglo upravljati i ispitivati baze podataka. Razvoj telekomunikacijske tehnologije imao je značajan utjecaj na prijenos, pohranjivanje i pristup informacijama. Zbog pojave interneta i stvaranjem sve veće potrebe za njegovim korištenjem, povećao se broj javno dostupnih izvora informacija. Samim time se omogućila da korisnici brže, sveobuhvatnije i točnije dolaze do potrebnih odgovora.
Abstract (english)
This paper will present databases as a source of data, information and knowledge for managers. A database can be defined as a set of interconnected data that is stored in the external memory of a computer. The database makes it easier for employees to work, because they can view information and data that interests them at any given time. It also makes it easier for managers to monitor business progress and gives them the ability to see the business results of the entire organization. Databases are most often associated with computer use these days. A database management system is a computer program used to manage and examine databases. The development of telecommunication technology has had a significant impact on the transmission, storage and access of information. Due to the appearance of the Internet and the growing need to use it, the number of publicly available sources of information has increased. This enabled users to get the necessary answers faster, more comprehensively and more accurately.
