Negotiation is a skill that requires training and a complex combination of different types of intelligence, attitudes and abilities. Intelligence, depending on individual theorists, is divided into several types. Despite this, most theorists in their division alongside general intelligence; it is measured by intelligence quotient, they also mention emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is the ability of an individual to understand and recognize their own emotions, as well as the emotions of others, and to manage emotions in oneself and in relationships with others. The purpose of this paper is to investigate and analyze the level of emotional intelligence with the negotiating style, respectively negotiating behavior that affects the outcome of business negotiations. Theoretical background of this paper refers to the definition of the concept of business negotiation and presentation of the negotiation process, strategies, tactics, negotiation techniques and characteristics of negotiators. The paper also defines emotional intelligence, its elements, the importance of emotional intelligence with a focus on the business aspect. Then, the influence of emotions and emotional intelligence, respectively the influence of the elements of emotional intelligence on business negotiation is presented. Empirical research refers to examining the relationship between the level of emotional intelligence and the negotiating style that is related to the associated outcome of negotiation. The sample consisted of people who encounter negotiation in their workplace. 94.2% of respondents stated that emotional intelligence significantly or strongly influences business negotiation.
