With analysis of Valamar Riviera d.d. financial reports, global and local environment and comparing financial ratio's with other companies in the same sector which are listed on Zagreb Stock Exchange, it has been attempted to come to a conclusion about position of Valamar Riviera inside the tourist sector and the perspectives for future growth and development. In order to have a better quality of results it is necessary to make thorough analysis of companies surroundings, because Valamar's performance depends on trends inside of its sector and competition. In that purpose relevant information’s were found in World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS), Economic Institute of Zagreb (EIZ) and other sources. Analysis of financial reports were conducted by horizontal and vertical analysis which gave insight in structure and year on year changes of segments in financial reports. Object of analysis were balance sheet, profit and loss account and cash flow. Data has shown strong growth and expansion of performance by Valamar Riviera through expansion of business, revenue, profitability and considerable investments and acquisition's in Croatia, but without decrease of liquidity and general security of business continuation and payment of current liabilities. Positive trends in tourist sector also can indicate continuation of positive business development of Valamar Riviera, although negative factors in investment process can be undefined land registry in Croatia and changes in taxation system and other kinds of taxation's which disable reliable investment analysis.
