Abstract | Pojavom korona virusa u Hrvatskoj, poslovanje se značajno izmijenilo. |
Abstract (english) | As a result of the Corona virus in Croatia, the business environment has drastically changed.
Consequently, this paper has been written as an analysis of external factors in the COVID-19
pandemic. In this paper, each individual factor is described in a theoretical manner and is
explained clearly even to someone who is not familiar with economics. Following a theoretical
treatment, the occurrence of Coronaviruses is described and the disease itself is defined. This
paper describes each external factor involved in a pandemic, and this is its core. A description
of institutional conditions is presented in the beginning, where some economic indicators in
socio-cultural conditions are presented: GDP, GDP per capita and unemployment rate. As
explained by the legal conditions, people should respect the law and other acts because the rules
establish order and if people do not respect them, sanctions apply. In contrast, political
conditions in Corona emphasize democracy as compared to non-democratic countries. Socially
responsible business is governed by ethical conditions, so some measures taken during the
pandemic and their observation are discussed. Integration processes are described through
mergers and acquisitions, but strategic alliances are also mentioned as new methods of doing
business. Next, there is the market, which has faced a number of challenges. Customer (who
used online shopping more intensively and demand changed), competition (which is
exclusively the same activity, and investing in employees is described as a temporary cost that
later becomes an advantage), suppliers (where the importance of closeness and the maintenance
of good relations with partners are stressed, but it is also emphasized that just-in-time
management is not possible) and labor market (the only living element of an organization; while
many sectors saw job losses, others faced better times, such as the IT industry). Finally, losses
caused by the pandemic are described, and a brief discussion of small and medium-sized
organizations in the context of the pandemic is provided. |
