The aim of the paper is to explain the importance of a business plan for starting an entrepreneurial venture. The paper describes the term and concept of entrepreneurship and talks about the qualities that successful entrepreneurs must possess. The primary goal of the paper is to point out the importance of a business plan when starting a business venture. Business planning is extremely important when starting up business venture because it gives the entrepreneur the opportunity to assess future events and quality preparation for the same. Planning is targeted, organized and purposeful action that has the task of establishing priorities for future business activities in order to solve business difficulties in an optimal way with often scarce or limited resources. It enables, as much as possible, based on the information available on the market and implemented research, a realistic insight into the future, defines the feasibility of set goals, the choice of direction which will act and the necessary resources for the execution of the planned goals. The theoretical part of the paper provides an understanding of the entrepreneurial process and the business process planning, and creating a business plan. The paper consists of a theoretical and a practical part, a methods used in the work are: description, comparison compilation, classification, analysis, synthesis, inductive and deductive methods, as well as the methodology of creating a business plan. A systematic presentation through a business plan on the example of starting a Cageball business venture terrain in the practical part of the paper, will facilitate the reader's understanding of the structure of the business plan and give support to the thesis that it is extremely important to invest time and effort in writing a plan, as well as that it is necessary for the entrepreneur to write it independently, possibly with the assistance of experts in a particular area.
