Abstract
Kultura se i dalje nastavlja temeljito istraživati, kao i njene karakteristike i razne podjele iste. Visoko i niskokontekstualne kulture predstavljaju jednu od najčešćih podjela kulture koja može biti iznimno korisna pri razvijanju interkulturalnih kompetencija i u komunikaciji među različitim kulturama. Cilj rada je predstaviti značaj usporedbe i podjele kultura, kao i pravilne interkulturalne komunikacije. Pri pisanju rada koristile su se razne knjige, članci i internetski izvori o kulturi, interkulturalnoj komunikaciji i visoko i niskokontekstualnim kulturama. Koristile su se razne istraživačke metode, poput deduktivne, povijesne, metode analize, kompilacijske metode itd. Prednosti ovog rada su sažeti opis kulture, njezinih karakteristika, kao i opisi njemačke, američke, francuske i japanske kulture. Međutim, potrebno je opsežnije istraživanje predstavljenih kultura kako bi se dao još dublji uvid u iste. Može se zaključiti kako su podjele kultura, poput visokog i niskog konteksta, iznimno korisne pri analizama te samostalnoj interkulturalnoj interakciji. Poznavanje podjele može pomoći osobi da se osjeća samopouzdanije i kompetentnije pri komunikaciji te smanjiti kulturni šok. Bitno je imati na umu da se pri analizi kultura treba paziti na stereotipe i generalizacije kako bi se izbjeglo umanjenje opsega određene kulture i njezinih kompleksnih karakteristika.
Abstract (english)
Culture continues to be thoroughly researched, as well as its characteristics and its various divisions. High and low context cultures represent one of the most common divisions of culture that can be extremely useful in developing intercultural competences and in communication between different cultures. The aim of the paper is to present the importance of comparison and division of cultures, as well as proper intercultural communication. Various books, articles and internet sources about culture, intercultural communication and high and low context cultures were used in writing the paper. Various research methods were used, such as deductive, historical, analysis method, compilation method, etc. The advantages of this paper are a concise description of culture, its characteristics, as well as descriptions of German, American, French and Japanese culture. However, a more comprehensive study of the presented cultures is needed in order to give an even deeper insight into them. It can be concluded that divisions of cultures, such as high and low context, are extremely useful in analyses and independent intercultural interaction. Knowing the division can help a person feel more confident and competent when communicating and reduce culture shock. It is important to keep in mind that when analyzing cultures, one should watch out for stereotypes and generalizations in order to avoid reducing the scope of a particular culture and its complex characteristics.
