In the Republic of Croatia, the importance of the agricultural sector is of great importance with regard to the possibilities of agricultural production and the capacity of usability. The primary objective of agriculture in each country, as well as Croatia, meets the needs of the domestic population and increases the export of agricultural products. That is why agriculture requires exceptional financial resources to carry out activities and improve the agricultural production process. The most common source of funding for agriculture in the Republic of Croatia is the state. Thus, most of the state budget for agriculture intended for agriculture is paid through so-called direct payments to which all agricultural holdings and other agricultural entities registered in the Register of Agricultural Holdings are entitled. Charges are paid depending on the plant and animal fund, the sizes and other factors involved in the agricultural economy. Compensation for damage caused by elemental disasters is another important state aid that is paid out of the budget. This kind of aid is paid to those farmers in whose areas of local government and self-government units have declared a state of emergency and taken all the activities and measures to protect their agricultural culture. Funding sources of the Republic of Croatia's accession to the European Union have been expanded, i.e. the financial resources available for numerous and diverse agricultural activities have been increased. This paper deals with the analysis of possible sources of financing of agriculture as well as the means of financing and the allowed activities.
