Abstract
Upravljanje kategorijama proizvoda kao disciplina se počeo javljati početkom 1990-ih u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama gdje je uzeo veliki početni zamah i počeo razvijati prve prototipe procesa upravljanja kategorijama proizvoda. Prvi podaci o upravljanju kategorijama proizvoda spominju se krajem osamdesetih, početkom devedesetih godina prošlog stoljeća, a jedan od začetnika je Toys „R“ us. Procesi upravljanja kategorijama proizvoda se prema TPG-u sastoje od 8 faza. Tih osam faza čine: definiranje kategorije, uloga kategorije, procjena kategorija, izrada kartona usklađenih ciljeva kategorije, strategije kategorije, taktike kategorije, implementacija i ocjena kategorije. Navedeni proces upravljanja kategorijama proizvoda ne mora nužno pratiti navedene specifične korake. Određene organizacije odnosno veći dio onih koji se odluče na provođenje procesa upravljanja kategorijama proizvoda obično koriste vlastite faze u procesu. To je, između ostalog, zbog specifičnih potreba na prilagodbu demografskoj strukturi, segmentaciji te geografskom području u kojem organizacija posluje. Za provedbu procesa upravljanja kategorijama proizvoda odgovoran je menadžer kategorije (category manager1). Menadžer kategorije proizvoda obično je osoba unutar organizacije specijalizirana za nekoliko određenih marki, a najčešće odgovara direktno voditelju marketinga. Menadžer kategorije odgovoran je za izgled artikala unutar kategorije, određivanje uloge kategorije, procjenu, izlaganje te niz drugih aktivnosti koje uključuju aktivno unapređivanje financijskih rezultata kategorije i zadovoljenja kupčevih potreba. Ciljevi provođenja procesa upravljanja kategorijama proizvoda ogledaju se u procjenjivanju potrošačevih potreba i želja, postizanju boljeg financijskog rezultata, zadovoljenju potrošačkih zahtjeva i postizanja prednosti nad konkurencijom. Proces upravljanja kategorijama proizvoda najčešće provodi maloprodaja, a utječe na cijeli kanal distribucije uključujući veletrgovce i proizvođače odnosno dobavljače. Zaokruživanjem svih bitnih elementa upravljanjem kategorijama proizvoda dobiva se kompaktan model za razvoj i poslovanje proizvođača, maloprodavača, ali i ostalih dionika u kanalima od proizvodnje do prodaje robe kupcu.
Abstract (english)
Category management started to develop as discipline in early 1990s at United States of America where it took enormous wave and started to develop some of the first prototypes category management processes. The first information on product category management is mentioned at the end of the eighties, in the early 1990s, and one of the first initiators was Toys "R" us. Processes of category management, according to TPG, consist a 8 step phases. The eight phases include defining categories, role categories, rating categories, designing coordinated carton goals, category strategies, tactics of category, implementation and rating categories. The specified product of category management process does not necessarily follow these specific steps. Certain organizations or most of those who choose to conduct a category management process usually use their own stages in the process. This is due, among other things, to the specific needs of adapting to the demographic structure, segmentation and geographical area in which the organization operates. A person who carries out a category management process is called a category manager. A category manager is usually a person within an organization specializing in several brands and most often responding directly to the marketing manager. The category manager is responsible for the layout of the item within a category, determining the role of the category, rating, exposure, and a range of other activities that include actively improving the financial performance of a category and meeting customer needs. The objectives of running a category management process are reflected in assessing consumer needs and desires, achieving better financial results, meeting customer requirements and achieving competitive advantage. Process category management is mostly conducted by retailers, and affects the entire distribution channel including wholesalers and manufacturers or suppliers. Circling all-important elements by managing product categories is a compact model for the development and operation of manufacturers, retailers, and other stakeholders in the channels from production to the sale of goods to the buyer.
