Based on the increasingly perceived business opportunities and market needs, entrepreneurs are increasingly deciding to start a business venture. Such entrepreneurial activities contribute to the growing importance of the SME sector, the state and importance of which are analyzed in this thesis, and which can be claimed to be the bearers of the economy. During each phase of the entrepreneurial process, in the face of a lack of knowledge and experience, novice entrepreneurs face a number of challenges and problems specific to each phase. Some of the most common beginner mistakes of an entrepreneur can be fatal to the venture but they can also be avoided. In dealing with and resolving them, entrepreneurs are assisted and supported by business consultants and various entrepreneurial support institutions. The aim of this graduate paper is to examine the importance and role of a consultant in starting a business venture. Based on the analysis of the dehydrated business plan, it was determined that there is a significant need for consulting services in certain areas of business planning, especially in the area of financial projections, legal aspects and marketing. In order to properly select a business consultant appropriate for a specific problem or area of business, entrepreneurs must take into account several key criteria listed in the paper, and should not be guided solely by the price value of the service. The consultant together with the entrepreneur goes through the so-called. a consulting process that begins with getting to know the entrepreneur and the consultant and defining the problem, and ends with directing and compiling the consulting report by the consultant. The purpose of this graduate paper is to point out the advantages and benefits of hiring business consultants and the use of consulting services when starting but also during the business of an entrepreneurial venture.
