Nonprofit organizations play a significant role in today's society, as their operations contribute to the overall well-being of the community. Human resources are pivotal to the success of these organizations, as they enhance efficiency, foster a conducive business environment, and shape their ability to achieve their objectives. Working in such organizations requires a distinct approach to human resource management, with a focus on employee motivation, despite the relatively fewer material rewards compared to the for-profit sector. In the modern globalized world, knowledge stands as a vital economic resource. The main objective of this study is to illustrate, using the example of the Lug Subotički Volunteer Fire Brigade, how members develop through various activities conducted within the organization and how they are trained for competitions. Primary data was employed in the preparation of this thesis, involving direct information collection from sources through survey administration. The significance of training and human resource development is emphasized as crucial factors for effective organizational leadership. The paper delineates the role of training, processes, and methodologies, highlighting its importance for both individuals and the organization. Through the case study of the Lug Subotički Volunteer Fire Brigade, the paper demonstrates how nonprofit organizations can effectively foster the development of their members through training and growth. Given the growth of such organizations, the need for careful human resource management to retain and motivate employees is underscored. In conclusion, the study emphasizes that a healthy work environment, interpersonal relationships, and employee treatment are pivotal for human resource development and achieving positive organizational outcomes.
