Abstract
Štetne posljedice klimatskih promjena i globalnog zatopljenja vidljive su i prisutne svaki dan. Iako ima i skeptika, većina znanstvenika u emisijama stakleničkih plinova vidi jednog od njihovih glavnih uzročnika. Ciljevi ovog završnog rada su povezati razvoj industrijalizacije i ubrzane globalizacije s povećanjem ugljičnog otiska te istražiti ugljični otisak studenata Ekonomskog fakulteta u Osijeku, Sveučilišta Josipa Jurja Strossmayera u Osijeku. Ostvarenju drugog cilja pridonijela je obrada... More podataka prikupljenih anketiranjem 128 studenata navedenog fakulteta u travnju 2023. Rezultati ankete pokazali su da svakodnevne aktivnosti studenata, pogotovo u području prijevoza, povećavaju ugljični otisak koji negativno djeluje na atmosferu. Mnoge se današnje države nalaze u tranziciji prema razvoju niskougljične ekonomije te su potpisale brojne protokole i sporazume, poput Pariškog sporazuma te Montrealskog i Kyotskog protokola, kojima potvrđuju svoja strateška opredjeljenja povezana sa smanjenjem štetnih ugljičnih emisija. Naravno, i pojedinac treba mijenjati svoj životni stil jer postoji veliki izbor alternativa koje bi pomogle u smanjenju ugljičnih emisija i ubrzanju tranzicije prema niskougljičnoj ekonomiji. Less
Abstract (english)
The harmful consequences of climate change and global warming are visible and present every day. While there are skeptics, the majority of scientists consider the emissions of greenhouse gases to be one of the main causes. The goals of this final paper are to connect the development of industrialization and accelerated globalization with the increase of the carbon footprint, and to explore the carbon footprint of students from the Faculty of Economics and Business in Osijek, Josip Juraj... More Strossmayer University of Osijek. The achievement of the second goal was facilitated by processing data collected through surveying 128 students of the mentioned faculty in April 2023. The survey results showed that the daily activities of students, especially in the transportation sector, contribute to a carbon footprint that negatively affects the atmosphere. Many present-day countries are transitioning towards a low-carbon economy and have signed numerous protocols and agreements, such as the Paris Agreement, Montreal Protocol, and Kyoto Protocol, confirming their strategic commitments related to reducing harmful carbon emissions. Of course, individuals also need to change their lifestyles, as there are many alternatives available that could help reduce carbon emissions and accelerate the transition towards a low-carbon economy.
