Abstract
Cross-docking predstavlja efikasan način za ubrzanje protoka proizvoda kroz opskrbni lanac, smanjenje troškova skladištenja i poboljšanje kvalitete usluge. Osim toga, takav logistički sustav omogućuje efikasnu konsolidaciju pošiljki, smanjenje vremena čekanja, smanjenje radne snage te smanjenje sigurnosnih zaliha i ukupnih zaliha. Iako cross-docking donosi mnoge prednosti, postoje i izazovi, uključujući upravljanje projektom, pouzdanost dobavljača i kapitalna ulaganja potrebna za postavljanje terminala za cross-docking. Ovaj diplomski rad u teorijskom dijelu istražuje kako cross-docking, logistička strategija koja omogućava bržu isporuku proizvoda uz smanjenje troškova skladištenja, može pomoći organizacijama u suočavanju s izazovima konkurencije, tehnološkog napretka i promjena u demografiji. Rad stoga istražuje i prednosti i nedostatke cross-dockinga, različite vrste cross-docking sustava te izazove s kojima se organizacije mogu suočiti pri implementaciji ovog sustava. Shodno tome, rad za svoj cilj ima istražiti primjenu cross-dockinga u poduzeću GLS te analizira kako spomenuti sustav može smanjiti broj povrata i neisporučenih pošiljki. Rad istražuje i pitanje povratne logistike u GLS-u te sugerira da bi regulacija zakonskih propisa o postavljanju paketomata i veća marketinška aktivnost mogli unaprijediti proces i povećati uspješnost primjene cross-dockinga u toj organizaciji.
Abstract (english)
Cross-docking is an efficient way to accelerate the flow of products through the supply chain, reduce storage costs and improve service quality. In addition, such a logistics system enables efficient consolidation of shipments, reduction of waiting time, reduction of manpower and reduction of safety stocks and total stocks. While cross-docking brings many benefits, there are also challenges, including project management, supplier reliability, and the capital investment required to set up a cross-docking terminal. This graduate thesis in the theoretical part investigates how cross-docking, a logistics strategy that enables faster product delivery while reducing storage costs, can help organizations face the challenges of competition, technological progress and changes in demographics. The paper therefore investigates the advantages and disadvantages of cross-docking, different types of cross-docking systems and the challenges that organizations may face when implementing this system. Consequently, the aim of the paper is to investigate the application of cross-docking in the company GLS and analyze how the mentioned system can reduce the number of returns and undelivered shipments. The paper also investigates the issue of return logistics in GLS and suggests that the regulation of legal regulations on the installation of parcel machines and greater marketing activity could improve the process and increase the success of the application of cross-docking in that organization.
