Mobile banking is essential for conducting financial transactions today, and due to its simplicity and speed in processing transactions within moments, it is gaining increasing popularity. Through mobile banking, we can effortlessly handle everyday transactions and achieve significant time savings. With the advancement and development of mobile device technology, smartphones are becoming more accessible to a wide range of users due to their increasingly affordable prices. Mobile banking has brought about significant changes in the banking sector. Technological progress has elevated mobile banking to a higher level and enabled better communication between users of mobile applications and the banks that provide these services. This paper will explore mobile banking, presenting its advantages and disadvantages for users. It will also analyze the functionality of specific mobile banking applications by providing examples from several banks in the Republic of Croatia and comparing them with leading international banks. The goal of this paper is to compare the mobile banking systems of several leading banks in Croatia based on criteria such as usability, scalability, technology, security, pricing, and other criteria from the literature. The theoretical section will cover the fundamental modules of mobile banking for citizens and businesses, while the empirical section will provide a comparison of mobile banking systems among multiple banks in Croatia and a selection of international banks based on selected criteria. The paper will conclude with insights into the strengths and weaknesses of e-banking systems in Croatia and provide recommendations for improvement.
