Abstract Gospodarska važnost kulturne i kreativne industrije utječe na potrebu formaliziranja i institucionaliziranja ove gospodarske grane.
2008. godine, kulturne i kreativne industrije bile među rijetkim industrijama s pozitivnim trendovima i povećanim obimom poslovanja.
Abstract (english) The economic importance of the cultural and creative industries is affected by the need to formalize and institutionalize this industry sector. The institutionalization of the industry is not uniform in the European Union or in other agglomerations, which is reflected in the still non-existent generally accepted definitions or statistical
nomenclatures at both European and world level. In the Republic of Croatia it is a currently accepted division of the 12 industry sectors, in which all elements of the cultural and creative industries are included, but the agreement on terminology and components of each sub-sector is still in progress. The Development Report of the United Nations for 2010 states that during the economic crisis that hit the world in 2008, the cultural and creative industries were among the few industries to have positive trends and an increased volume of business. In addition, the cultural and creative industries are important in any economy because innovation and creativity are the keywords that are related to the concept of cultural and creative industries, and shall be closely linked to higher tendencies and economic growth. Despite such positive connotations, in Croatia there are few research studies that focus on researching cultural and creative industries, that is, research views on preferences of products and services that are realized in the cultural and creative industries. Further to the above, this work is based on research conducted in the Repulic of Croatia aimed at researching the cultural access and participation of respondents in cultural activities. This work looks at data collected within a broader study whose purpose was to measure the attitude of EU citizens on a range of cultural activities, and to
measure their participation in cultural activities. The research and data collection was organized and conducted by the European Commission between 26th of April and 14th of May 2013 for all EU countries, and the research is called the Special Eurobarometer 399 / Wave EB 79.2. This is secondary data that is publicly available, as the data was collected in the field of statistical analysis, theresults presented in this thesis are treated identically as if they were the results of the analysis of primary data. Statistical analysis was performed on selected variables selected for people residing in
the Republic of Croatia, and the results of the statistical analysis conducted in this paper are explained and interpreted. With the interpretation of these results, recommendations that would enhance the cultural and creative industries in the
Republic of Croatia are offered. It is expected that theputting into practice of those recommendations, will contribute to the development of cultural access and participation of Croatian citizens in the cultural and creative output of this industry.
