A franchise is a model of starting a new business, concluding a contract between an entrepreneur, the provider and the franchisee, where the franchiser provides the franchisee with business under his name, training, knowledge transfer and business management, for which the recipient provides compensation. There are conditions for starting a franchise, and the most important are a quality idea and start-up capital. The advantages of this type of business are ideal for a start-up company because time reduces the possibility of risk and provides opportunities for profit. The franchisee gets an already formed company and thus does not start a business from scratch, but the establishment of a company with a created name and other essential characteristics. Due to the advantages in the application of franchising, it has been applied in developed countries for decades. Profitable business is possible if the company has products available and has no outstanding liabilities. Among the biggest obstacles to the development of franchising in Croatia is the low level of information about the potential of franchising, as well as poor education of certain institutions. The purpose and goal of the paper are presented by the significant and franchise business opportunities for the franchisee, to see what the operating costs are and how much is the investment in the business venture. It is important to analyze the franchise agreement to define the obligations and rights of the franchisee. It is important that both parties adhere to all items of the contract for the business to be successful. Also, the advantages, disadvantages and experiences in the franchise business are presented. An example of the Croatian franchise Dog & Style is given, where it is described what the mentioned franchise deals with. It describes in detail what benefits a potential recipient gets by entering this type of franchise, which he must fulfill to become a franchisee.
