This master thesis discusses the role of the EU funds in the energy sector and environmental protection. Firstly, this thesis will analyze the concepts of EU funds, their role, what are the finance resources for various aid programs, what purpose do the resources have, and what Europe 2020 represents. Afterwards, the thesis will explore the Environmental Fund and environmental policies, waste management, as well as the consequences of neglecting the environmental awareness. In addition, the Energy Efficiency Fund shall be explored, in which renewable and nonrenewable energy sources and their management will be discussed. There is more to be said about the energy efficiency and systematic energy management, clean transport which should lead to the reduction of CO2 emissions. The role of funds is very important both in the energy sector and the environmental protection. The fund resources are used to help those countries in the development of the energy sector through the factors that influence the energy consumption, restrictions due to the climate changes and the environmental protection, reduction of the greenhouse gasses and CO2, how the technological development influences the energy sector, the potential of available resources and the power infrastructure, as well as the security and quality power supply. The consequences of pollution and environmental awareness negligence are reflected all around us. The Environmental Fund has been developed to prevent these consequences, and it takes actions to safeguard the environment and its nature values that are inherently important and contribute to healthy living.
