Perhaps the world's most famous economic crisis emerged in 2007 and soon spread from American soil to virtually the entire world by 2008. The reason for such an express spread of the problem lies in the long-term non-existence of a development strategy and appropriate government intervention when the situation has already begun. Also, thanks to the thirty-year rule of the neoliberal conception in the West, the world had no chance against the economic crisis, whose consequences can still be felt in some parts of the world today. The decline in mortgage lending has only started a domino effect that has shown and proven in the short term that no economy in the world is immune to external stimuli, especially if they come from the world's most robust economy: the United States. This crisis was a turning point in the growing advocacy of government interventions that saved some financial institutions and accelerated the exit from the problem. The Republic of Croatia has not remained untouched by the stimuli that arose on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. The insufficiently quick reaction of the authorities at that time brought significant economic and social problems to the inhabitants of "Lijepa Naša.” After the devastating crisis of 2008, the world is a brighter place, but also more cautious when it comes to running financial institutions and withdrawing macroeconomic moves by the government. It is possible to prepare for certain situations, but their accurate prediction remains an enigma to large corporations and governments of most countries.
