Ethical issues in negotiation mainly relate to truth-telling standards. Individuals need to decide when to tell the truth and when to take measures from which telling the truth is excluded. Attention is focused more on what negotiators communicate and the way they do it than on their actual actions. Negotiators can steal and cheat, but in the ethics of negotiators the most attention is paid to lying. For most negotiators, the reputation of an honest person is important, and questions about telling the truth are direct. The objectives of the research were to determine the ethics, ways of acting and the choice of strategies and tactics of respondents with different business experience in a hypothetical situation of negotiations between the two companies. The research hypothesis is that none of the respondents involved in the research will choose to use unethical methods in the negotiation process. Responses were collected through a questionnaire, and five respondents participated in the survey. All respondents are ready to compromise in a hypothetical negotiating situation, and as many as four of the five would use a strategy of principled negotiation. Most of the respondents of this research would use the ethics of the end result in ethical reasoning. The limitations of this research are the small number of respondents, the fact that the negotiating situation is hypothetical, and the scientific method of the questionnaire used to collect data for the research.
