Human resources management is one of the most important management functions in every organization. The most important element of any organization are people and its success depends on them. Most non-profit organizations do not have the human resources department that performs this function, but it is performed by management team or coordinator for human resources, depending on how the organization is organized. Activities of human resources management are: job and workplace analysis, selection and recruitment, training and development, performance evaluation, employees and rewards. Organizations need to determine the place of attracting potential employees, which can be on social networks, the Croatian Employment Service, competing organizations and other. One of the most important activities of human resources management is motivating people because it increases their productivity and contributes to the achievement of organization's mission. Non-profit organizations appreciate the employee's intrinsic motivation whose value system is in line with the organization's mission and vision. Unlike companies where managers motivate workers with material methods, non-profit organizations mostly use non-material methods due to lower salaries and limited financial resources. The purpose of the activities of non-profit organizations is not to make profit, therefore to try to motivate employees by creating a pleasant and stimulating working environment, with a friendly approach, enabling flexible working hours, giving a day off needed. In addition, an important part of this activity is the evaluation of the employee's work performance (feedback, qualitative and quantitative indicators) because it leads to an increase in employee productivity and, ultimately, it is an indicator of whether the organization is successful in achieving its mission.
