Environmentally responsible behavior is becoming an increasingly important aspect of modern society, both globally and in Croatia. Faced with the consequences of climate change, loss of biodiversity, and environmental pollution, citizens and institutions are recognizing the need for sustainable practices that will preserve natural resources for future generations. In Croatia, environmental awareness is growing, reflected in various initiatives, legislative measures, and changes in the daily lives of citizens. According to research, the attitudes of Croatian citizens towards environmentally responsible behavior are becoming more positive. Many citizens support measures such as recycling, the use of renewable energy sources, and reducing plastic consumption. Cities in the Republic of Croatia are implementing programs for recycling and waste reduction. Various methods are also being applied in the hospitality industry aimed at fully utilizing food ingredients without waste, such as Zero Waste techniques. The aim of this paper is to explore and analyze the environmentally responsible behavior of students at the Osijek High School of Hospitality and Tourism. The purpose of the paper is to present the environmentally responsible behavior among the respondents from this educational institution. The future of environmentally responsible behavior in Croatia promises further progress and innovation. Plans for the development of green infrastructure, improvement of recycling systems, and the promotion of sustainable tourism are at the core of national and local strategies. Education and awareness among younger generations about the importance of environmental preservation will be key to long-term success. Croatia has the potential to become an example of sustainable development in the region, promoting greener and cleaner ways of living. Environmentally responsible behavior in Croatia is developing in a positive direction, supported by increasing citizen awareness, effective policies, and innovative initiatives. Maintaining this trend is crucial for ensuring a healthy and sustainable environment for future generations.
