In this paper the importance of management is described, both today and throughout the history of mankind. As a term management is not only an economic term, therefore different authors define it in different ways that will be described in the second chapter of the work. After that, levels of management are described, their specificities, differences and problems they face. Also, each level of management spends its time on all five functions of management, but more on some, and to others less, depending on the level itself. The description of managerial functions is shown in the continuation of the chapter. The functions of planning, organizing, managing, controlling and human resources management are described. The most important function of the opinion of many authors is elaborated in the continuation of the paper, which is the human resources management. Human resources management is defined in the narrow and wider, and its presence in many other sciences such as sociology and psychology . It has also been described as scientific discipline, managerial function and task, business function and specific philosophy and approach to management. In the following section, an overview of internal and external factors influencing the management of human resources is presented. In the last chapter we see the complexity and multidimensionality of human resource management. The goals are divided into four groups, business goals, economic goals, social goals and goals of flexibility and change.
