Regionalization is a term that can be defined as the method of division of national area in the region. Term of geographical region The term geographic region implies a part of the continent of common or similar characteristics. The geographic region is the result of equality or commonality at two possible levels. The region may be a place with homogeneous landscape or functional properties or a heterogeneous area whose cumulative different properties make up a whole different from neighboring regions. The term regional policy implies the expression of EU solidarity with less developed countries and regions by concentrating resources on the areas and sectors where the biggest difference can be made.Regional policy is based on three principles: convergence, competition and cooperation. Convergence aims to support economic growth and accelerate employment in the least developed EU Member States and their regions. Competition is based on the development of economic and social changes, encouraging innovation, entrepreneurship, environmental protection and labor market development in regions not covered by convergence goals, while cooperation enhances cooperation at the trans-national, trans-national and inter-regional level in urban, rural and coastal development; accelerates the development of economic relations between small and medium-sized enterprises. Regional policy also uses various funds to carry out its activities. The most important funds and at the same time regional policy instruments are: the European Regional Development Fund, the Cohesion Fund, the European Social Fund, the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the European Fund for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
