The International Monetary Fund came about after America and England made major professional and political preparations that lasted throughout the Second World War. Former economists of the time, including Lord Maynard Keynes of England and Harry Dexter White of the United States, participated in these preparations. In 1944, an agreement was reached to establish a fund at the Monetary and Financial Conference in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, USA, whose primary purpose was cooperation in the monetary and financial fields, and an agreement on international payments in a time when gold could no longer function as the only world money. Also one of the reasons for the creation and implementation of the International Monetary Fund was to help countries in or threatened by the economic crisis. The International Monetary Fund officially came into force in 1945 when the required number of countries ratified it. In addition to providing financial assistance to Member States, the International Monetary Fund also offers intellectual assistance in the form of consultations, meetings and plans for the future, and these intellectual elements are also a condition for certain financial assistance from the Fund. The International Monetary Fund is mainly financed by quotas paid by Member States and has 3 accounts: a general fund account, a special payments account and an investment account. Assistance to members is provided in the form of a loan, which also contains 3 main policies: credit tranche policy, reserve tranche policy and special policies. In conclusion, with a number of functions, the main function of the Fund is to stop the crisis in the world and maintain financial stability.
