When approving a loan, commercial banks face the risk of borrower default. In doing so, they often encounter errors in which they can grant a loan to a company that will not meet its repayment obligation or, on the other hand, by not approving a loan to a potentially good company. For these reasons, commercial banks use various models and calculations to rule out potentially problematic companies, i.e., to identify good companies that will properly repay the loan. Altman's Z-score model is one of the most popular and widely used models to evaluate the creditworthiness of a company. In addition to Altman, the ZETA credit risk model, the Beaver model, and Kralicek's Quicktest have also been discussed in this paper. All these models use data from the company's financial statements, more specifically from the balance sheet and income statement. Therefore, it is very important that companies report all items in the balance sheet and publish them ethically so that banks can easily come to a conclusion when approving a loan. In addition to the models used to evaluate the creditworthiness of companies, commercial banks also use financial indicators of operations to provide a clear picture of actual operations. Cash flow statement and financial forecasts are also an indispensable part of a comprehensive analysis. In the paper, based on the analysis, it was found that there are certain discrepancies in the evaluation of the creditworthiness of selected companies according to Altman's Z-score model and Kralicek's Quicktest, and it is recommended to include the subjective evaluation of the company and financial indicators in the analysis as an additional confirmation of the creditworthiness of the company.
