In order for communication to be successful, it is necessary to follow rules and principles for effective communication. Even when we are not saying anything, we are still communicating with our surroundings. We often overlook the fact that communication, in addition to being verbal, can also be nonverbal. It can occur through facial expressions, tone of voice, body language, and many other signals. Effective communication is key to a successful personal and professional life. Therefore, recognizing our own and others nonverbal cues can enable us to grasp the meaning that would otherwise be missed.
